'Best of the Fest' film night - Glasgow
'Best of the Fest' film night - Glasgow

When:   Thursday, 24 March 2005; show starts 7.30pm
Where: Tiso's Glasgow Outdoor Experience store on Couper Street
Tickets: £5 (available from Tiso)
Scene from '4810 - Tough at the Top'

The very best films from EMFF 2004 come to Glasgow for an exciting and entertaining film night, hosted by Tiso. Short films on climbing, skiing, kayaking and BASE jumping are among the line-up for what promises to be a great night out - and one to get you psyched up for summertime!
The evening's films will include:

‘Never Say Nevis Again’ (Bread & Butter Productions – 10 mins)

The winning film from EMFF 2004. The late Andy Jackson reveals what life is like for a kayaker based in Fort William, with some spectacular action from the Water of Nevis.

A fool with tools...

‘Fools With Tools’ (Hot Aches Productions – 15 mins)

This film follows a team of Edinburgh climbers who have taken up dry-tooling with the aim of repeating Scott Muir’s landmark route, ‘Fast and Furious’. A light-hearted and gripping (unlike the axes!) film. Climber/Producer Paul Diffley will introduce the film.

‘4810’ (Graeme Chalmers – 10 mins)

Scottish snowboarder Graeme Chalmers attempts to repeat his first snowboard descent of Mont Blanc, which has been described as 'harder than boarding off Everest' by those in the know!

'Scottish BASE' (Graeme Chalmers - a short film)

A sensational glimpse of the underground BASE jumping scene in Scotland, as featured in the Sunday Times, Daily Record, Daily Express and other papers last autumn. Featuring the first BASE jumps caught on camera in Scotland. Not to be missed.

Dave McLeod in action

‘Happiness in Slavery’ (Xtralarge Recordings – 12 mins)

Scotland’s top climber, Dave McLeod, wants to put up Scotland’s hardest route. Director Pete Murray is there to catch the action (and some of the falls) in this thoughtful insight into what goes into putting up a new route at this level. Pete will introduce the film and take questions. Dave might make an appearance too!

‘Desert Friction’ (Fresh Air Crew – 26 mins)

A visually stunning climbing adventure as two very different climbers pit themselves against the Spitzkoppe – a vertical spire rising out of the Namibian desert.

The show will last for just under 2 hours with an interval mid-way. There will be a raffle in aid of the John Muir Trust during the interval.
