Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival is proud to support two nominated
charities. In keeping with the aims and aspirations of the festival, the charities are the Mountain Rescue Committee for Scotland
and the John Muir Trust.
The Mountain Rescue Committee for Scotland is the representative and coordinating body for mountain rescue services
in Scotland. All of us who venture into the mountains of Scotland owe a huge debt of gratitude to the voluntary members of
the 60+ mountain rescue teams in Scotland who are on stand-by to help out if accidents occur.
The John Muir Trust was formed in 1983 to protect and conserve wild places and to increase awareness and understanding
of the value of such places. The Trust works closely with local communities. It believes that sustainable conservation can
only be achieved by recognising special qualities of wild places and understanding the human factors and other aspects which
contribute to the landscape we think of - and value - as wild.
Through generous donations by festival attendees and raffles with prizes donated by festival
sponsors, we have raised almost £2000 for these charities from the first two festivals. A huge thanks goes out to all those
who have donated a prize, bought a raffle ticket or simply made a donation.
